Jarmo
Qalaat Jarmo is an archeological site of the Neolithic located in the Kurdistan Iraq uien, close to the town of As Sulaymaniyah. He was excavated by Robert Braidwood in the years 1950, during the vast project of archaeological prospections Iraq-Jarmo .
Jarmo is a small village founded towards the end of PPNB, towards 8000. It is composed of a group of a score of small houses in raw bricks, of simple plan, with a hearth dug with very the ground. Agricultural activity there had place, as show it the agricultural sickles and other tools which were put there at the day, as well as storage spaces of food products.
Jarmo is one of the oldest sites for which one found Céramique, for its recent levels, dating from the beginning of the 7th millenium. It rather coarse, thick, is coated with a vegetable grease-remover. Marble vases cut were found for older levels, as of the sealed baskets with Bitume, whose sources were near Jarmo.
