Jarkko Ruutu (born the August 23rd 1975 with Vantaa in Finland) is a professional player Finnish of Hockey. It occupies the position of winger.

It has two younger brothers who play hockey professionally, Mikko and Tuomo.

Professional path

Ruutu begins hockey while playing for the club of HIFK Helsinki in the league junior of Finland in 1991 - 92. In 1995-96, it joined the North America for one season in the technical Université of Michigan of the university championship (division Western Collegiate Hockey Association ).

The season according to, Ruutu turns over to play in Finland and begins its professional path with its formative club, the HIFK but this time in the senior championship (Sm-liiga).

It was chosen by the Canucks of Vancouver like their third selection, with the 68e row, in the fishing out of 1998 of the National league of hockey.

During the season 2005-06, it knows its best season (until there) with ten goals, and seven master keys (17 points) for 142 minutes of penalties. During the '' lockout '' of 2004-05, Ruutu turns over to play with the HIFK, and it beats the record of the Sm-liiga for the minutes of punishments (which was already eclipsed by Matt Nickerson).

Ruutu played each season in Vancouver more and more. It délecte of its role like the agitator of the team. During the season 2005-06, it sometimes evolved/moved like member of the first offensive line Vancouver, like at the time of the numerical superiorities. However, Canucks place it on their list of free agents.

The July 4th 2006, it joined the manpower of the Penguins de Pittsburgh and with the team 2006-07 of Penguins, they arrive for the first time to the eliminatory Séries since 2002 but they lose with the first turn against the Senators d' Ottawa.
