History
The Jaques-Dalcroze Institute was created in 1915 in Geneva by the type-setter and Swiss pedagog Emile Jaques-Dalcroze. Since, it did not cease being the international center of the active and artistic pedagogy which bears its name; it indeed exempts to the children, adult amateurs and students a musical formation founded on the rhythmic one, interactive method which connects the natural movements of the body, the artistic rates/rhythms of the music and the capacities of imagination and reflection. In particular, the improvisation forms integral part of its teaching, on all the levels. It is in particular known for its teaching of the improvisation to the piano.
Nowadays, one counts Jaques-Dalcroze schools in more than twenty country in the world, in Europe as in the United States, in Canada, in Australia or in Japan. That of Geneva comprises the greatest number of professors having obtained the license of teaching or a higher diploma making it possible to train the future trainers. Come from all the corners of the sphere, the foreign students always constituted about half of manpower of the professional section of the Institute, to only deliver the higher diploma of the Jaques-Dalcroze method.

Courses of rhythmic
Courses of rhythmic, rhythmic-musical theory, piano, flute of bamboo, musical improvisation and body expression to the adult pupils, children, teenagers and amateurs. Course parent-children as of 3 years. Rhythmic Seniors. The IJD belongs to the Fédération of the Genevese Schools of Music. Pivot of education dalcrozienne, the rhythmic share of the idea that the body is “the instrument where plays the rate/rhythm”. By exercises audio-engines intended for musicaliser the body, to ensure the representation of the rate/rhythm and the control of the gesture, the child - the adult, the musician, the dancer, the actor - learns how to react to the music while adapting to the space who surrounds it and with the others, to coordinate its movements, to express its feelings, to combine thought and actions, while reaching in a way alive the pleasure of the artistic discovery.
Professional studies Jaques-Dalcroze Method
Professional studies (Music and Jaques-Dalcroze movement, High Music school of Geneva). Pole of excellence of the musical formation of international repute, the Jaques-Dalcroze Institute invites its students to make music a living language through an interactive and multi-field approach privileging the bonds music - movement. 3 years (Bachelor) + 2 years (Master) to learn how to teach the rhythmic one, musical theory and initiation with the improvisation according to the Jaques-Dalcroze method with, with the key, a trade adapted on the international plan in fields as varied as the instrumental music, the dance, the theater, the therapy… Higher diploma of the IJD (training of the future professionals of the method)

Intended for the musicians instrumentalists, professors of music or dance, dancers, actors, pedagogs, therapeutists wishing to add a cord to their arc, Continuing education post rank with Jaques-Dalcroze pedagogy proposes 18 intensive weekends and of the training courses at the Jaques-Dalcroze Institute of Geneva, distributed over 18 months.
