2001 :
- the ministry for Defense announces that four French soldiers having been useful in the Balkans were currently treated for Leucémie in military hospitals. In question, the use by the American forces of ammunition with Uranium impoverished during the conflicts in Bosnia-Herzégovine and with the Kosovo.
- Algeria, the civil war made: 9006 victims in the year 2000.
- 2002 : First American killed with the combat in Afghanistan.

Five explosions took place between 3:15 and 3:30 of the morning with Ajaccio which aimed at banks and the Treasury. Another attack with the explosive close to Solenzara in Corse-du-Sud showed the death of one of the bomb planters and the serious wound of another member of Corsica Nazione.
- Iraq: the execution by Hanging of the two co-defendants of Saddam Hussein, namely Barzan al-Tikriti her half-brother and former chief of the Iraqi secret services, and Awad Al-Bandar, former president of the revolutionary tribunal, were deferred to the Sunday, January 8, 2007 because of the international pressures and within the Arab world. In addition, thirteen people were killed and twenty-two others wounded in the quasi simultaneous explosion of two car bombs near a service station of Baghdad
