Jano Merry
Jano Merry , from its true name Jean Mourier, was born the August 11th 1930 with Montrouge; it is already on the track of Lorientais at 15 years in 1945, during the Vacances; it is the time of the “swing”, from America, on the Rythme S of Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, Claude Luter, Sydney Bechet, Louis Armstrong, Count Basie… One calls these dancers of the “Zazou S”, they have the long hair and of the too large jackets. This swing there will be called later “Boogie” and will become “Bebop” in 1948. On the other side of the English Channel, one names it “Jive” and across the Atlantic, “Jitterburg”.
It is Jano which, the first, will assemble a lifting number of Bebop with its troop “the Rats of Cellar”. In 1949, they will begin at “Carrère” with the Champs Elysées and will be with the poster of several Parisian programs at the sides of the high-speed motorboats of the time, like Bourvil, the Companions of the Song, Yves Montand…
Jano will even make dance Mistinguett in its review “Paris has fun” with a.B.C
It is the great time of the cellars of Saint-Germain-of-Meadows and the Existentialisme: Jano goes côtoyer Boris Vian, Juliette Gréco, Jean-Louis Barrault, Madeleine Renaud…
In 1950, it created new troop, “Big Ben Ballet S”, which will turn in the south of the France and the Italy - where she will occur in the review of Ugo Tognazzi “Which treno che if chiama Desiderio” (“a tram named desire) - then in Germany, to London…
In 1955, whereas one starts to speaking about Bill Halley and the Rock' N Roll, Jano assembles a new group “Jits-Bops”: 4 dancers, 11 years of success, the “Moulin-Rouge”, the Operetta “the Mediterranean” of Francis Lopez, great lifting performances on Tempo S of 55 measurements per minute… Marathon of the dance with Juan-the-Pines and meets with Rita Hayworth and Ali Khan.
From 1956 to 1966, it carries out a life of artist than filled more, spectacles, rounds all around the ground, contests, prices, success… it leaves then the scene to direct the spectacle of “Sexy”, then several Discothèque S until in 1981.
From 1984, it takes again an activity of professor of Bebop with Muriel, his wife and partner since then, with whom it found time to have 4 children.
