Jani Liimatainen
Jani Liimatainen (born Jani Allan Kristian Mika Emppu Liimatainen, on August 5th, 1980) is the ex- Guitariste and founding member of the group of Power metal Sonata Arctica.
It has learned the majority from its technique only, although it received some lessons of guitar early in its life, and plays on a Destroyer DT 200 Custom like on Ibanez JPM4, the model signature of John Petrucci. It quotes Strapping Young Lad, Dream Theater and Pain off Salvation like its greater influences.
It was constrained to leave Sonata Arctica in May 2007, although that was confirmed officially only in August. It was replaced by Elias Viljanen.
Jani also played with the group Altaria, and recorded two albums with them before leaving the group for this concentrating on its work with Sonata Arctica. It has also a side-project with Henrik Klingenberg (clavierist of Sonata Arctica): a melody group of Death called Graveyard Shift.
