Jan dau Melhau is a author-storyteller-editor-singer-musician Occitan the Limousin.

Biography

From its true name Jean-Marie Maury, Jan dau Melhau (in French Jean of the Melhau , name of the family ground) was born in 1948 with Limoges, it was one of the heads of poster of the song Occitan E of the years 1970. But its limousinity, i.e. its manner of seeing the things, nature, the animals, the men and death made a rather marginal singer of it. Author and editor of the beautiful letters occitanes limousines (like Marcelle Delpastre or Paul-Louis Attic), it is interested especially in the beauty of the language occitane, with its literary force. Its step forever be to make Folklore with the generally allowed direction of the term, nor to sing in front of full a Zenith, but rather to seek with deepest of the language limousine all its smoothness, all its mysteries…

It continues today to work for the the Limousin with its publisher Lo Chamin de Sent Jaume (the Way of Jacques Saint) with Meuzac in High-Vienna, with its own writings like with its spectacles of tales and songs. He is also cofounder, with Micheu Chapduelh (Michel Chadeuil), of the review limousino-périgourdine Lo leberaubre .
