Jan Lievens
Jan Lievens (October 24th 1607 - June 4th 1674) was a painter of Leiden.
He studied under the direction of Pieter Lastman. After several years like apprentice, it began at twelve years its career as independent painter. He collaborated and divided a workshop with Rembrandt in the years 1620. He was sometimes considered to be less expressive than Rembrandt.
Of 1632 in 1644, it shared its time between Antwerp and England. During its stay in England, it made the portrait of Thomas Howard, Count d' Arundel and was influenced by work of Antoine Van Dyck.
It had increasing financial problems and its family refused her heritage by fear of the debts.
