Jan Leon Kozietulski

The baron Jan Leon Kozietulski (July 4th, 1781 with Skierniewice - February 3rd, 1821 with Warsaw) was noble Polish, officer of the armies of the Duché of Warsaw during the Napoleonean Guerres. He illustrated himself particularly during Bataille of Somosierra where he charged the batteries heroically Spanish.

Born at the time of the République from the Two Nations it is a friend of the baron Wincenty Krasiński, soldier and politician, enthusiastic in favor of Napoleon who has just created the Duché of Warsaw. Kozietulski joined the guard of honor of Warsaw, with which it takes part in the Bataille of Pułtusk and the Bataille of Iławka. Distinguished rider, in April 1807 it east becomes ordering 3rd squadron of the 1st Polish regiment of Chevau-léger S of the imperial guard, ordered by Krasiński. Kozietulski in March 1808 gains Spain with its unit, to take share with the Guerre of Spanish independence.

To the Battle of Somosierra, ordering it Kozietulski leads the Polish cavalry against Spanish artillery and the infantry. Even if he is not recognized like the single craftsman of the victory, he remains in Poland, like the most known veteran of this countryside. Like 18 Polish officers, he sees himself allotting the Légion of honor. After the Guerre of Spanish independence Kozietulski remains with the service of Napoleon and is distinguished with the Bataille from Wagram, where its unit of Polish riders faces other Polish units combatant at the side of the Austrians. In 1811 it is made Baron d' Empire.

During the countryside of Russia, Kozietulski is distinguished on October 25th, 1812, with the Bataille of Horodnia, where it saves the life of the Emperor, that it protects while interposing in front of the Cosaques which attack it. After having recovered its wounds it returns to the active service and takes part in all the principal battles of the countryside of Saxony in 1813. It also takes part in the battles of the nations. In 1814 it is made ordering 3rd regiment of scouts of the imperial guard.

After the defeat of Napoleon, Kozietulski returns to Poland, become Royaume of the Congress whose tsar of Russia is the king, and becomes ordering 4th Polish regiment of Uhlan S.
