Jan Frederik Gronovius (or Johann Frederik or Johannes Fredericus ) is a Botaniste Dutch, born the February 10th 1686 with Leyde and died in 1762.
John Clayton (1686-1773) forwards to him of many specimens of Virginia in the years 1730 as well as a manuscript. Without the knowledge of Clayton, Gronovius uses this material for the drafting of its Flora Virginica which appears of 1739 with 1743, republished in 1762. His/her son, Laurens Theodore Gronow (1730-1777), is also a botanist.
