James Williams Tyrrell

James Williams Tyrrell , explorer and mining promoter born the May 10th 1863 in Weston, Canada - Western (become Ontario), deceased the January 16th 1945 with Bartonville, Ontario. He is the brother of Joseph Burr Tyrrell.

James Williams Tyrrel made studies in Civil engineering. He follows his occupation with Hamilton until in 1893, date on which he joined his brother year to carry out a forwarding in boat in order to cross the Territoires of the North-West, Lac Athabasca with the Hudson Bay, while descending the Dubawnt river.

It Marie in 1890 with Isabel C. Macdonald. They had two wire and two girls.

In 1897, it off tells its forwarding in its book Across the Sub-Arctics Canada ( Through Canada sub-artic ), which became traditional on Scandinavian forwardings.

In 1899, the Ministry for the Interior (Department off Interior) requires of him to undertake the exploration of the grounds between the Big lake of the Slaves and the Hudson Bay.

In 1901, it settles with the Klondike for one one year period. It surveys then the territories corresponding to the current areas of the Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta on behalf of the Government of the Dominion, between 1902 and 1910.

In 1905, James Tyrrell carries out a work of recognition in the area of Churchill, in order to build a railway line between Prince Albert and Fort Churchill, crossing the river Saskatchewan and the rivers Nelson and Churchill.

By exploring practically unknown Canadian grounds James Tyrrell plays an active role in the development of the mining industry of Canada. It is one of the first to detect the potential of the gold mines of the district of Red Lake in the north of Ontario. He becomes the president of the company Tyrrell Red Lake Mines.

Parallel to its activities of explorer whom it practices until in the Thirties, it exploits the Wentworth ranch with Prince Albert and the Beverly ranch in Hamilton. It is city council man of Hamilton between 1914 and 1916.
