James Stewart , of his true name James Maitland , born the May 20th 1908 in Indiana Pennsylvania (U.S.A) and dead the July 2nd 1997, is a American Acteur .
Stewart spoke in a style stammering and undecided which was sometimes hard to include/understand but which perspired of sincerity for its audience. Its career was thus built around its way of playing a clear character and Net with good values morals (although occasionally it could play the malicious S). Its hesitant style gave to its characters a feeling of not very common naturalness in much of films of this time. Its career beginner is perhaps even more remarkable in films than it made with like realizer Frank Capra, in particular You will not carry it with you ( You Can' T Take It With You , 1938) and Mr. Smith with the Senate ( Mr. Smith Goes to Washington , 1939). Its portrait of George Bailey in film of Capra the life is beautiful ( It' S.A. Wonderful Life , 1946), its first film after its return of the war, is a high level performance in its career. It engaged in U.S. Air Force one year before the attack on Pearl Harbor. Its first station was with Moffett Field (California).
It begins its missions of engagements on March 31st, 1944 and is then indicated Executive Officer of the 453 ème Groupe of Bombardment, then, Head of State Major of Second Wing de Combat, of the 8th Air Forc E. It finished the war with 20 missions of engagements.
Its last mission was a bombardment on the Vietnam which, at its request, put a term at its military career. Among its decorations, there were the Air Medal, the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Military Cross and 7 stars for as many victories in aerial combat. In 1959, it was useful in the Air Force Reserve, before withdrawing like Brigadier general. After the war, it was for him a suitable choice to play Charles Lindbergh in the Odyssey of Charles Lindbergh ( The Spirit off St Louis , 1957), it also appeared in other films of aviation such as the flight of the Phoenix ( The Flight off the Phoenix , 1965). In an episode of The World At War (1974), it was one of the former aviators interviewed in connection with his career during the Second world war.
It was a ladies' man. He fixed himself finally at the 41 years age by marrying with old the model Gloria Hatrick McLean the August 9th 1949 and devoted himself to his wife until the death of this one. He adopted his two sons. One of them, Ronald, died the June 8th 1969 with the Vietnam. The May 7th 1951, their two twin sisters, Judy and Kelly were born.
Later in its career, Stewart tested a light change of its image; although being always the hero, it started to play in a riskier way, with a harder side. It was the principal high-speed motorboat in four very known films of Alfred Hitchcock: the Cord ( Rope , 1948), Window on court ( Rear Window , 1954), the man who knew of it too ( The Man Who Knew Too Much , 1956) and Cold sweats ( Vertigo , 1958). He was also the star in many Western S traditional, in Harvey (1950), in Autopsie of a murder ( Anatomy off has Murder , 1959) and the title role in The Glenn Miller Story (1953).
James Stewart died the shortly after died of his friend Robert Mitchum.
James Stewart is buried in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery with Glendale (California).
A museum dedicated to its life (The Jimmy Stewart Museum) is located in its birthplace of Indiana. There is also a statue set up on the lawn in front of the Law courts in the Comté of Indiana which paid homage to him the May 20th 1983 to celebrate its 75e birthday.
