James Hoban (1762 - 1831) was born in Desart, in Ireland. He studied architecture with the Dublin Society School. He emigrated with the the United States about 1789 and is established with Philadelphia as architect. He drew the plans of the capitole of South Carolina and those of future the White House with Washington DC. He died in Washington D.C the December 8th 1831. He was freemason.
