James Hepburn
James Hepburn (towards 1535 - April 14th 1578), count Bothwell (1556-1567) and Duke of Orkney (the year 1567 only), was a noble Scot known under the name of Bothwell .
He was the third husband of Marie Stuart.
It is shown to be the author of the murder of Henri Darnley, husband of Marie Stuart. After the murder, it removed the queen and the May 14th 1567 forced it to marry it. This guilty marriage having excited a rising, Bothwell was obliged to escape. It took refuge in the the Orkneys, then in Norway, and in 1578 died misérablement there.
