James Boswell
James Boswell , born in 1740 and died in 1795, is a writer and Scottish lawyer , wire of the Lord Alexander Boswell.
Boswell is known for its biography in two volumes of the Vie of Samuel Johnson , published in 1791, regarded as one of the masterpieces of the English Littérature of.
In 1768, it undertakes a voyage through Europe where it meets in particular Voltaire and Jean-Jacques Rousseau. On recommendation of this last, it makes in Corsica to the meeting of the eminent General-in-chief of the Corsican Nation Pascal Paoli, with which it binds friendship. Admiring in front of the attempt at organization of a democratic State in the island and of the will to free itself from any foreign supervision, it stands as ambassador of the Corsican cause near the Europe of the Lights and publishes at the time of its return of England a best-seller translated in many languages into Europe, its famous Account off Corsica, The Journal off has off Tour to that Island and Memoirs Pascal Paoli (1768).
