History

It is in 1772 that Jalognes takes its final Christian name, after many modifications… of Jaloria in 1136 with Jalonnia in 1164… Jalugnes in 1260… Jaloignes in 1541, Jallongnes in 1663… Jalognes constituted a seigniory acquired at the 17th century, probably by the lords of Pesselières.

The lords of Pesselières were, of right, marshals of the County of Sancerre. Like such, they had the very honourable privilege to lead all vassal and back-vassal County to the first entered of the Count de Sancerre, the very lucrative right to adapt the horse which the lord assembled at this entry as all the crockery which one made use this day at the court of the Count. This prerogative gave place, as well one thinks, with many difficulties.

In 1348, Béatrix de Courcy, countess of Sancerre, recognized with Loys of the Door the right to take its tank and the shaft horse (first draft horse) very furnished and all vaissellement, to eat as well as of drinking. Marmande, his/her daughter, countess of Sancerre, having also made its entry and having given rise to the same rights, the countess of Sancerre repurchased all her crockery realizing the abandonment of thirteen arpents wood. In 1407, Marguerite de Sancerre discussed and compromised for sixty francs of gold, but in 1409, Bernard, dolphin of Auvergne, could repurchase its crockery only by the abandonment of the barn of Oysi and the sheep-fold.

In 1626, Jean of the Door having accompanied the Countess by Sancerre at her entry and having claimed the privileges of its load, Rene de Bueil, évinça by this distinction, more subtle than chivalrous, than it was not as countess whom his noble wife had made this entry. In the same way, in 1640, when Jean de Guibert had acquired the seigniory of Pesselières, one refused to admit it with the consent.
