Jalisco is a state of Mexico in edge of the Pacific Ocean. Its capital is Guadalajara. Its population was into 2003 of approximately 6,5 million inhabitants.
It is the third state more populated of Mexico and very dynamics thanks to these economic activities, commercial and cultural.
Since March 1st, 2007, its governor is Emilio González Márquez.
Geography
He has as a border several states:
- Nayarit in the North-West,
- Zacatecas, Aguascalientes and San Luis Potosí in north,
- Guanajuato in the east
- Colima and Michoacán towards the south.
The Volcano of Colima located between the State de Colima and of Jalisco, is under monitoring because he threatens the neighbouring villages.

Etymology
Jalisco come from the language Nahuatl, Xalixco which means “Place of the sand surface” ( Xalli , sand, ixtli , surface and - Co , place)
