Jaguaruna
Jaguaruna is a city Brésil ienne Littoral of the southern of the State of Santa Catarina. It is located by a Latitude of 28º 36 ' 54" south and a Longitude of 49º 01 ' 32" west, with a Altitude of 12 meters. Its population is estimated at: 16046 inhabitants in 2006. The municipality extends on 328 km ².
History
The beaches of Jaguaruna is on the way that the colonists, originating in Laguna used to extend the Portuguese field towards the south, at the beginning of the 17th century. However, the effective settlement of the area of Jaguaruna, mainly of European origin began only around 1800. The principal colonists of the city were from the Azores which arrived of the Portugal starting from 1870. The area took initially the name of Campo Bom , but finally, the indigenous name (in language Tupi-Guarani) of Jaguaruna prevailed (“black French jaguar”).
