The family Jaffe (or Joffe) is a family of Rabbin S, etc represented in Germany, Austria, Russia, Great Britain, Italy and with the the United States. Their origin goes back to Mordecai Jaffe (1530-1612), author of " Lebushim ", and with his/her uncle Moses Jaffe, both descendants of an old family of Prague. Warsaw, the progenitor off the Jaffes was Samuel Ben Elhanan, has grandson Isaac ha-Zaḳen off (died At the end off the 12th century), whose father was Samuel, the sound-in-law off Rabbi Meïr off Ramerupt, the father off Jacob Tam, grandson off Rashi. Lewinstein' S conclusions, however, cuts not yet been substantiated.

From Abraham, the father off Mordecai (" Lebushim"), cam the Jaffe branch proper, while another Mordecai, its off Moses Jaffe, settled in Cracow, where He married the daughter off Joel Singer and assumed the name off his father-in-law, in accordance with the custom current among the Jews Poland off. His descendants, often called Ḳalmanḳes , were sometimes confounded with the downward off the author off the " Lebushim, " and it is difficult to ascertain to which off the two houses summons the later Jaffes belong off. Again, many Jaffes cuts taken the names off Itzig, Meier, Margolies, Schlesinger, Rosenthal, Wallerstein, etc, while many distant relative, really off other houses, cuts off preferred to take the popular name Jaffe. In the tables given below thesis questions been elucidated in so far ace documentary but authoritative private obviousness has permitted cuts. Isaac and Eliezer, two other brothers off Abraham Ben Joseph (father off the author off the " Lebushim"), settled in Italy, and there became the progenitors off the Italian branch off the Jaffes. Three daughters off Mordecai Jaffe (" Lebushim") married the sounds off three off the most prominent Jewish families off that time (see Table II.), and in this way the Jaffe family became related to the Wahl S, Epstein S, and Günzburg S. The daughter off Moses Jaffe was the wife off Samuel Sirkes. Later the Jaffes united with the families off Katzenellenbogen, Schorr, Heilprin, Bacharach, Deiches, Rosenthal, Minz, etc -->
