Jafar Al-Askari

Jafar Al-Askari (Arab: جعفرالعسكري) (born in 1887, died in 1936) was a politician Iraq IEN who was useful twice like Prime Minister. November 22nd 1923 with the August 3rd 1924, and November 21st 1926 with the December 31st 1927.

Askari served in the Othoman army during the First World War until its capture by the British forces in Egypt. After having escaped with the British, it is run away towards the East. It joined the forces of Laurence of Arabia, the emir Fayçal ibn Hussein and her brother Nouri Saïd who will also serve him of Prime Minister. It is after joinhaving joined them that it becomes nationalist Arabic. He took part in the catch of Damas, and supported the accession of Fayçal on the throne. When king Fayçal was deposited by the French, Askari supports it so that he becomes king of Iraq.

To reward his fidelity, the king offers to him several stations important in the government, therefore the post of minister of defense in the first Iraqi government. He served as Prime Minister twice, and he was also the Foreign Minister. Askari was the Minister for defense in the government of Yassin Al-Hachimi. Askari finds death in 1936, with the court of the Coup d'etat carried out by the general Bakr Sidqi. A Askari family member avenges his death by assassinating Bakr Sidqi like Ali Jawwad, ordering air force with the airport of Mosul.
