Jacquier
The jacquier , or jaquier , Artocarpus heterophyllus is a tree of the family Moraceae , originating in India and Bangladesh, cultivated and introduced into the majority of the tropical areas in particular for its edible fruits. It is a species close to the Breadfruit tree Artocarpus altilis with which it should not be confused. It is cultivated mainly in Southeast Asia and with the Brésil.
Food consumption
The fruit of the jacquier (or jacque, or jaque, or small jaque, or Ti' jac) is a Polydrupe generally weighing several kilos (from 1 to 25 kg) pertaining to the same family as the Mûre S, the family of the Moraceae .The jacquier starts to have fruits three years after the plantation. The fruit has a soft savor. It can be bought in exotic stores of products.
The flesh of the ripe fruit, with strong and sweetened odor, can be consumed raw or prepared in Confiture.
One can also prepare the green fruit, chopped finely, in salted dish. With the Meeting, one thus cooks it with smoked bacon, to prepare the famous popular receipt of the jaque ti' boucané .
The seeds, which are toxic raw, edible are cooked when they are roasted or pulps. Their taste points out that of sweet chestnuts. They can be eaten such as they are or built-in with traditional dishes (rougails).

Other uses
Jacque adhesive
Many species of the family of moracées contain latex. That of the jacquier, produced by all the parts of the tree, is particularly abundant and sticking. It circulates in large channels laticifères.The jacque adhesive was traditionally used for its adhesive properties and to trap the birds.
Wood
The jacquier gives a hard wood of beautiful yellow color to fine grain. This wood is appreciated in cabinet work, for the clothes industry of pieces of furniture, or in marquettery, because of its marked coloring. It can also be used in construction. The wood of the jacquier is sometimes used for the manufacture of musical instruments which belong to the Gamelan S.
