Jacques de Reinach
The baron Jacob Adolphe Reinach , known as Jacques de Reinach , is a French banker of German origin born with Frankfurt the April 17th 1840 and died in Paris the November 19th 1892.
Biography
Wire of the baron Adolphe Reinach (1814 - 1879) and of Clementine Oppenheim (1822 - 1899). He is pupil with the Lycée Condorcet. Married the May 6th 1863 with Fanny Emden, his/her German cousin. Will be born Henriette-Clementine (Mrs. Joseph Reinach), Lucien and Juliette-Maximilienne.Banker, it is established in Paris at the end of the Années 1850, and founds in 1863 the bank Kohn-Reinach with his brother-in-law, the international financier Edouard Kohn. He is guard national during the head office of Paris in 1870. Naturalized French in 1871. It is of all the great financial businesses of its time.
Compromised in a business of distribution of bribe to ministers and members of Parliament (among whom Clemenceau) to obtain their support at the time of the vote of a law authorizing a refundable lottery loan by drawing lot to reinflate the company of the Panama Canal, it is accused the November 4th 1892, but obtains to remain in freedom against the promise to deliver its accounts books, and remains on the Riviera. It returns to Paris 19 because it must appear before the magistrates' court the 21, but it dies of a stroke in the night of 19 to the 20 in its private mansion of the 20 Rue Murillo. Its disappearance, put a long time on the account of a suicide, gives the true kickoff of the Scandale of Panama.
