Jacques Saada

Jacques Saada (Tunis, November 22nd, 1947 -) is a politician Québécois. Former minister in the government of Paul Martin, it was appointed federal of Brossard it Prairie for the Liberal party of Canada (PLC) of 1997 to 2006.

Biography

Born in Tunis, Mr. Saada has a baccalaureat in linguistics applied of the Université from Quebec in Montreal, a certificate of teacher in Quebec and a diploma in translation of the Université McGill. He is married and has four children.

Before his election with the House of Commons, Mr. Saada was teaching and school administrator in Quebec and in France, part-time lecturer in translation to the Université Concordia, consulting with the Canadian Agence of international expansion and adviser near the Minister for Fishings and the Oceans.

Mr. Saada was chairman of B&B Translation of 1978 to 1993 and chair firm of consultants Polytrad Ltée of 1977 to 1997. He moreover was president of St Lawrence Protestant School Board of 1987 to 1990.

Political career

After having undergone a defeat with its first attempt in 1993, Mr. Saada is elected for the first time in June 1997. It was whip associated government, vice-president of the Standing Committee of the procedure and businesses of the Room and member of the internal Office of control. In 2003, it is named leader of the government to the Room and minister responsible for the democratic reform by the Prime Minister Paul Martin. In 2004, it is named Ministre for the economic Development agency of Canada for the areas of Quebec and minister responsible for the Francophonie.

From 1998 to 2000, he was parliamentary secretary of the Solicitor General of Canada. Since 1998, he was president of the Canadian section of the mixed Standing committee of defense Canada-State-Plain.

At the time of the elections of 2004, it was the subject of heinous attacks because of its origins Juives. It east demolishes with the elections of the January 23rd, 2006.

In 2006, within the framework of the race to the direction of the Liberal party of Canada, it joint with Bob Rae as a president of his countryside in Quebec. December 20th, 2006, he announces his final withdrawal of the active policy. In September 2007, Mr. Saada was named general president-director of the Québécois Association of aerospace (AQA). ¹ .
