Jacques Poisson de Coudreville

Jacques Poisson de Coudreville (Saint-Lo, January 6th 1746 - October 17th 1821), was appointed Manche and transitory President of the legislative Body in 1801.

Biography

He is the son of Etienne Poisson, sior of Coudreville, merchant in Saint-Lo, and of Jeanne-Germaine Francoise Corbet.

At the time of the French revolution of year VIII, Jacques Poisson de Coudreville was lawyer in Saint-Lo. He will become turn-with-turn, President of the Court of Saint-Lo and administrator of the English Channel.

September 8th, 1791, he is elected appointed the English Channel for first once with a crushing majority of 375 votes out of 547 voters. He is re-elected on September 5th, 1792 (mandate until 1795). Under the Consulate and the First Empire, it is again appointed (December 25th, 1799 - July 1st, 1804) He voted against the execution of Louis XVI, and for his detention and his banishment.

After having sat like deputy and president of the House of Commons it withdraws political life following the second restoration.
