Biography
He studied with the college of the Mans, and entered on September 1st 1623 to the noviciate of the Society of Jesus to Rouen, and after a few years devoted to the teaching of humanities, then of rhetoric with Paris (1636 - 1638), was given to preaching, in province initially, then in Paris. As of 1632, it started to write against the Janséniste S, then when the book Frequent communion appeared, it denounced it top of the pulpit like a pernicious work. The partisans of Antoine Arnauld praised themselves to have made him impose one humiliating retraction in front of the bishops who had approved the work and to have made him prohibit the pulpit of Saint-Severin in Paris and that of the cathedral of Tours.
At all events, the Nouet Father renonça not with the fight against the Jansenists, because, being vice-chancellor with Alençon, it became the adversary declared of theological of Sées, the abbot the Black. It is on the assertion of a polemist Jansenist that one repeats qie the Nouet Father would have asked Bussy-Rabutin, then to the Bastille, to be made lawyer of the Jésuite S against the author of the provincial Lettres (Blaise Pascal).
Against the Protestants, the Nouet Father defended the dogma of the real presence in a work which contibua with the conversion of Turenne (1667). He is not known less by his ascetic works, often reprinted of his time and until the beginning of the 20th century successfully. He withdrew himself in Paris and died there the May 21st 1680.
