Jacques Mallet of the Side (1749 - 1800).

In 1789, it supports the deputies who wish the constitution with English and joined the camps of the Monarchiens. In its articles, it shows a great perspicacity with regard to the evolution of the revolutionary movement.

The May 21st 1792, it leaves France, charged by Louis XVI to write a “proclamation” moderated in the name of the emigrants and of the united powers which will attack the Révolution. But it cannot fulfill its mission and is withdrawn with Bern where it writes the Considérations on the nature of the Revolution of France, violent but often strong lampoon just (August 1793). Also principal the courses of Europe require from now on its opinions and its councils of him, of which a part was published ( Correspondance with the court of Vienna , 1884). In 1798, when the Suisse is invaded by the French troops, Jacques Mallet of the Side takes refuge in England where it publishes British Mercury (it is under the feather of Mallet of the Side that the expression of “vote for all” will make its appearance). He dies in London the May 10th 1800. ----
