Jacques III of Scotland , ( Seumas III in Scottish Gaelic) born in 1452, died in 1488, king of Scotland of 1460 with 1488, wire of the king Jacques II of Scotland and Marie d' Egmont.
It was eight years old when it succeeded his father. During its minority, it is the archbishop of Saint-Andrews James Kennedy which directed the kingdom until its death in July 1465.
Jacques III then let himself control by Favori S, and dissatisfied the nobility which went against him, led by his brothers. The favorites carried out, Jacques III took the head of the government, but fell down soon in the same ones through.
In 1479, his/her brother, the count de Mar, was assassinated on its orders and his/her other brother, the duke of Albany, had to escape. A league was formed against him and made sure of his/her oldest son, the future Jacques IV.
The June 11th 1488, it was killed with the battle of Sauchieburn, close to Stirling.
He had married in 1469 Marguerite of Denmark, girl of Christian Ier of Denmark and Dorothée de Brandebourg, of which he had three children:
- Jacques IV king d' Écosse, born in 1473, died in 1513
- Jacques, born in 1476, duke of Ross in 1488, archbishop of Saint Andrews in 1497, died in 1504.
- Jean, born in 1479, Count de Mar & Garioch in 1486, died in 1503.
