Jacques Gruber
Jacques Gruber , artist plastic and main glass, was born the January 25th 1870 with Sundhouse and died the December 15th 1936 with Paris.
After having begun its artistic course with the School of the Art schools of Nancy, it is a purse of the town of Nancy which enables him to follow the courses of Gustave Moreau, to Paris.
It returns to Nancy in 1893 where it teaches at the School of the Art schools before carrying out decorations of vases for Daum, of the pieces of furniture for Majorelle and the covers of books for Rene Wiener.
It assembles its own workshop in 1897 and specializes quickly in glass and the stained glass.
It is interested in all the techniques of decorative arts before being devoted to the stained glass towards 1900. It was, in 1901, one of the founders of the École of Nancy while belonging to the management committee. Today he is regarded as the most prolific Master-glassmaker in stained glasses of style École of Nancy such as: stained glasses of the Chamber of commerce and Industry of Nancy, the Villa Majorelle or part of those of the Bergeret Villa. One also owes him the canopy of the Galeries Lafayette of Paris.
In 1914, it settles in Paris.
It will take part in the decoration of the transatlantic liner Ile de France , for which it was in charge of lighting.
