Field
It was one of the first to try to apply an archeology foucaldienne speeches to the field of school physical education in its work Archéologie of Physical education at the XXe century in France where it shows how the school and the technology of work are decisive for the organization of the speech of physical education. It also shows in this work the porosity of a speech to its environment. It thus describes an order of the speech of Physical education and sporting, School and Work which cuts out in three major sequences, the first, mechanics, second mechanical, industrial and energy one, the finally tertiary and informational third. It qualifies this transformative sequence of “cognomorphose” in other words passage of a contact of the hand with the matter with a contact of the brain with information, in these three fields as a dialologist. It describes thus, continuing the project foucaldien, a specific form of microphone-capacity.Thereafter, it implemented this same method in Instrumentalisation of the body . This time it was a question of defining archaeological isomorphisms and structures of the speech of the rational instrumentation of the bodies. Here it describes the archaeological structures which make pass the body of a statute of object manufactured by God and nature to that of an object made or remade hand of the man. It then describes various variations of this manufacture of the body during the last 4 centuries, the last being described as hypermodernity hedonist in opposition to the concept of post-modernity. From the same point of view it published with Renata Freccero the fabrica dei corpi .
Since now ten year it also is interested in the Anthropologie techniques of the body to the most extensive direction of the term. It recently published several articles in various languages on the reports/ratios maintained by the “flesh” and the “verb” within the body structure. The research undertaken under its direction as well within the Body team and Culture as of I 2416 or currently of I 2516, allowed to make emerge the idea that the contemporary company, in particular in the field of the body practices is that of the oxymore, i.e. finally bringing together of the opposites. In addition, it particularly tried to decipher what in a broader way one named “the invention of the tradition” in particular in the field of the practices of exercise (Languedocien Tournaments, Courses Camarguaises…)
Its last work is interested in the totalitarian models of bodies conveyed in particular by the Poupée Barbie or by the images of Publicité. He also works on news epidemic S of the 21e century in Occident such as the Boulimie or the Anorexie. He takes an active part in the young team health , education and situations of handicaps while directing many theses and masters 2.
He was one of the founders and of the writers of the Review Body & Culture, he is also the director of the review STAPS, International Newspaper Off Sports Science and Physical Education , since 2001.
