Jacques Furrier

Jacques Furrier (born the 1929 with Villers-in-Prayères (Aisne) and deceased the September 3rd 2007 with the Valley-of-Grace to Paris), is a Politician French. He was in particular, senator and president of the High council of the international cooperation.
August 14th, 2007 the group of the democratic and social Rassemblement European of the Senate indicated that the former minister had been victim of a Cerebral vascular accident and was hospitalized, in a serious condition and previous occupant to the Hôpital of instruction of the armies of the Valley-of-Grace.

Professional path and trade-union
After studies with the University of agriculture of Angers and with the College Janson-with-Sailly, he is elected President of (1955 - 1960) of the Center of the young farmers of Aisne, and vice-president of CNJA (National center of the young farmers) in 1956.
Whereas it already began its political career, it is elected President of the economic Committee of expansion of Aisne (1961 - 1966) and vice-president of the Commission of regional economic development of Picardy between 1965 and 1973. In addition, it is invested right from the start in the creation of the first permanent Centers of initiatives for the environment and founds, in March 1977 the National union of CPIE (UNCPIE), thus confirming its attachment with the stakes of the environment.
Electoral mandates
Mayor of Villers-in-Prayères since 1953, he was substitute for André Rossi, appointed Aisne in 1958 and 1962, and was general adviser of (1958 - 2004). He chaired the assembled departmental between 1964 and 1979 before becoming about it the vice-president until in 1985. Jacques Pelletier was also vice-president of the Parliament of the presidents of the general advices between 1976 and 1979.

Jacques Pelletier founded or chaired many political organizations: Cofounder TO ACT it (Alliance of the left for the initiative and the reform) in 1975 and of the social democrat Crossroads in 1977, it is, in 1975, elected president of “Freedom and democracy” (French section of the liberal Internationale). He was also president of the association of the democrats (ADD) and the Mouvement of the reformers (1992 - 1993) (MDR).

He is also first vice-president, of 2001 until his death in 2007, of the Radical party.

Named Mediator of the Republic the March 4th 1992 for a six years mandate, it was, so an independent administrative authority. Its political career is thus put between brackets until in 1998, where it yielded its place to Bernard Stasi.
Its competences in agriculture and international cooperation also were worth to him to be appointed president of the preparatory group of the World summit of the 1997 supply.
