Jacques Friedel is a Physicien French and professor emeritus with the Université Paris-South Orsay.

Biography

Jacques Friedel is the back grandson of Charles Friedel, mineralogist and chemist French.

Resulting from a long line of mining engineers, he is former student of the Polytechnic school.

He received the Gold medal of CNRS in 1970. He was elected regular member of the Academy of Science the January 17th 1977 of which he was the president over the period 1993-1994. He is also one of rare French associated member of the American National Academy off Sciences.
