Jacques Dufilho

Jacques Dufilho is a French actor born the February 19th 1914 with Bègles (the Gironde) in France and died the August 28th 2005 with Lectoure.

Biography

Besides originating in the south-west of France, it makes studies of agriculture, (it will describe itself as " actor-paysan" and will often speak about its love about the horses). It leaves its native land to go up to Paris in order to live there its passion for painting and the sculpture. But thanks to his mentor, the great man of theater Charles Dullin, it makes his beginnings with the theater workshop in the Années 1930. He appears on the screen in 1948, with a role in the Farm of the seven sins of Jean Devaivre.

Great man of theater, it obtains a Molière of the best actor in 1988 for his role in I am not Rappaport of Herb Garner. Its interpretation of Miserly the in 1962 remains one époustouflant moment of theater; he also plays in Colombe of Jean Anouilh, is the interpreter of Marcel Aymé, each time under the direction of André Barsacq, and in works of Jacques Audiberti. He obtains to a sharp success in the Guard of Harold Pinter in 1969, like in the staircase , put in scene by Georges Wilson, with which he will also assemble " Aiguilleurs" and " Léopold the good aimé". Its cinematographic career, often in supporting roles, in France and Italy, is enormous (more than 160 films). He played in sometimes poor films but its talent makes that he there is, him, always excel, even memorable.

In 1978, it obtains the César of the best actor in a supporting role for his service in the Crab-drum of Pierre Schoendoerffer. It obtains second César of the Best actor in a male supporting role in a bad son of Claude Sautet in 1980. It is nominated for new César of the supporting role for his participation in It is what the life? in 1999, film for which it obtains the reward of the Best Actor, with the International festival of Film of San Sebastian (1999). In 1988, it gains the 7 of Gold of the Best Actor in a TV film, an innocent woman (turned in 1986).

Jacques Dufilho took part in the Second world war within the 29e G.R.D.I, grouping resulting from the 2nd regiment of Hussards. It for that received the Légion of honor within this regiment in 1998. As a sign of homage, the cinema of the 2nd regiment of Hussards was baptized " cinema Jacques Dufilho" the June 4th 2006.

It publishes in 2003 an autobiography entitled the Sirens of the boat-wolf (Beech).

Man of convictions, he was catholic traditionalist and monarchist legitimist.

He dies the August 28th 2005 with Ponsampère (Gers). Its funerals take place in the Sainte-Marie church of Mirande, and its burial with the cemetery of Ponsampère, village where it finished its days.
