Jacques Christophe Blarer de Wartensee (in German Jakob Christoph Blarer von Wartensee ), born on May 11th, 1542 with Berneck and dead on April 18th, 1608 with Porrentruy, is a Ecclesiastic Suisse, Prince-bishop of Basle.
Biography
Formation and nomination
In parallel with its studies with Freiburg-in-Brisgau of 1557 with 1559, it is expectant chapter with the cathedral of Constance in 1555, named Chanoine in 1559, then Archidiacre in 1570He is elected unanimously bishop of Basle on June 22nd, 1575 and its nomination is confirmed by the pope Gregoire XIII on May 4th, 1576. Counter-Reformation

In parallel, it makes develop the mine S and Fonderie S of Delémont, of Courrendlin, Undervelier and Saint-Ursanne to create new sources of revenue for the principality.
