Jacques Chahan de Cirbied

Jacques Chahan de Cirbied Its true name is Yakob Sahan Jrpetean, ՅակոբՇահանՋրպետեան.

It was born on December 16th 1772 with Edesse in south-east from Anatolia. He dies in 1834.

He publishes:

It seems that it is in Italy that Bonaparte met Jacques Chahan de Cirbied. It had remained in Rome, Florence and Genoa, since 1789. Its courses of Armenian were officially announced as of on December 11th, 1798 and started indeed in 1799. Unfortunately Cirbied knew French badly and temporarily had to stop in 1801 to take again its activity only in 1811. Cirbied was professor of Armenian language at the Special School of the Eastern languages established at the National library. It is named full professor by imperial decree of February 27th, 1812.
