Jacques Berque
Jacques Berque , born with Frenda (Algeria) the June 4th 1910 and died in Saint-Julien-in-Born (Moors) the June 27th 1995, is a sociologist Orientaliste French.
He is titular pulpit of social history of contemporary Islam to the Collège de France of 1956 with 1981 and member of the Academy of Arab language of the Cairo in 1989.
He is the author of many translations, of which that of the Coran and Mémoires of the two banks , appreciated in particular for the quality of their style. He describes the Utopia of a “Andalusia”, i.e. of a Arab Monde renewed, finding at the same time his traditional roots and his capacity to show of Tolérance and opening.
