Jacques Bergier , born the August 8th 1912 with Odessa (Ukraine) and deceased the November 23rd 1978 with Paris (only, of brain hemorrhage), is a Engineer Chimiste, Alchimiste, spy, Journaliste and writer of French nationality and Polish. In the Francophonie, he is admired for the great diversity of his knowledge, diffused in many works. He is one of those having more contributed to promotion of the Pseudo-science S in France - in particular with his work the Morning of the Magicians, whose initial idea germinated in its spirit whereas he was confined to bed with the revier (" infirmary-hôpital") of Güsen with Mauthausen, written in collaboration with Louis Pauwels, although very critical vis-a-vis arts divinatoires in general and with astrology in particular (thus liked he to repeat: " clairvoyance?. I would like to see! ").
Biography
He makes his secondary studies with the Lycée Saint-Louis, and his higher learning with the Faculty of Science of the Sorbonne and the 3Ecole Nationale Sup3erieure of chemistry of Paris. Chemical engineer, bachelor of science, it is devoted to the scientific research, in particular to chemistry Nucléaire. In 1936, it discovers with André Helbronner (*), the use of the heavy Eau for the braking of the electron S, and carries out the first synthesis of a radioactive element. Very quickly, it develops leaning for the Alchimie (reinforced by a meeting supposed with Fulcanelli in June 1937), and affirms at the beginning of the Années 1950 to have obtained by alchemical Transmutation of the Béryllium starting from Sodium.During the Second world war, it is resistant to Lyon within the trio of the engineers , then network Marco-Sports shirt structured better as from December 1942 (thus allowing the bombardment of the base of experimentation of rocket S V2 of Peenemünde, thanks to its information transmitted to London, which provided by a Russian engineer working on the spot), before being stopped with Lyon on November 23rd 1943 by the Gestapo, and subjected to torture (with 44 recoveries). It is locked up in the camps Nazis of March 1944 (camp of Neue Bremen) at February 1945 (camp of Mauthausen).
It belongs to BCRA (central Office of information and actions, the future SDECE) until in 1950, as a captain of the DGER (Head office of the studies and research), within which it directs the French branch of the CIOS (allied Center interarmée of against-espionage). It takes part thus during 2nd half of 1945 to the MIST (Mission of scientific information and technique), directed by the captain Albert Mirlesse chief of the 2nd office of the General Staff of the Air - EMGA-, and attached to the CIOS, for secret missions in Germany just after the Second world war, in order to question scientists nuclear physicists, and to find weapons secret derived from the heavy Eau. It also forms part of the British services of against-espionage, as well as his friend George Langelaan. Thereafter, he writes many works on espionage; he was thus the close friend of Jean Bruce and his wife Josette Bruce (creative of OS 117 ), of Victor Alexandrov, and good of other specialized writers (Ian Fleming, met first once at at the end of Lisbon 1942 pennies covered with activities of resistance of the " trio of the ingénieurs" , and whose Bergier on several occasions affirmed to have provided him the idea of the character of James Bond, Arthur C. Clarke, specialist in waves radar for the English army during the war, him known about 1941…). Its collaboration with another of its followed relations, Robert Tinder for his review the Tower Saint-Jacob , started in 1956.
Forsaking a gainful employment of consulting engineer and " hunter of tête" scientist at the beginning of the Years 1950 within the company " Research and Industrie" after the death of his/her companion of resistance Guivante " Paul" of Saint-Gast, Bergier sinks then in poverty but launches out despite everything in the adventure of the writing. Thus is born in collaboration with Louis Pauwels, known in 1954, the book the Morning of the Magicians , published at Gallimard in 1960 (followed the Man eternal ten years later), which constitutes proclamation of the fantastic movement realistic. Working of this work required five years, according to a bulky documentation indexed in 2007 with the National library of France in the " Pauwels" Funds; (whereas the " Bergier" Funds; is him currently attached to the library of Saint-Germain-in-Bush hammer). In 1961, always with Louis Pauwels (and François Richaudeau), it creates the review Planet , in which will take part his/her large friends Aimé Michel, Charles No5el Martin, Remy Chauvin and George Langelaan. This work is a mixture between scientific elements réellements, elements which concern rather the Science-Fiction, and others of the Occultisme. If the current resulting from the Morning of the Magicians concerns the Pseudo-science clearly, one can be only fascinated by the creativity of Louis Pauwels and Jacques Bergier.
With its old accomplice Georges H. Gallet, him also large collector of pulps , it Co-directs several collections at Albin Michel of 1970 to 1975, of which the collection Science-fiction of the editor. Bergier is also deputy manager of the collection the Traditional ones of the S-F of the Club of the book of anticipation (CLA) to the editions Opta with Michel Demuth, of 1968 at 1970. In Admirations (republished into 2000 with the ED. Eye of the Sphinx), it pays homage to John Buchan, Abraham Merritt, Robert E. Howard, Tolkien…
Its project in 1953 of a collection of hexagonal anticipation at Robert Laffont, directed jointly with the mathematician François Lionnais, is not carried out.
It was in addition the first to be translated into French Lovecraft, for whom it had an immense admiration. It was even its " correspondant" by the interposition of the review Weird Bruise.

Theories
Men in black
In cursed books , Bergier known as to have seen with all the conferences devoted to Planet “one group men in Noir with the sinister aspect, always the same ones”, whose role would be “to prevent a diffusion too much fast and too extended from the knowledge”. It makes go up the existence of this conspiracy to highest Antiquity, in particular allotting to them the destruction of the library of Alexandria.
The existence of the extraterrestrial ones
In the Morning of the Magicians and in the majority of his other works, Jacques Bergier supposes the existence of extraterrestrial. He quotes several phenomena like proof of their existence, in particular the existence of traces of suction cups on the mountains.
Fantastic realism
Bergier, in the Morning of the Magicians , is at the origin of the movement called fantastic Réalisme. This current of thought and research wants to be before any scientist, and has as an aim the study of fields generally excluded by official science.
The absolute model of Jacques Bergier is Charles Fort, author of the Livre of damnés the (1919), which inquired into various unexplained phenomena reported in the newspapers (rains of blood, frogs, of gelatin, observations of not-identified flying objects, disappearances mysterious…) and proposed, with a total freedom, explanations which defied all the usually allowed theories by science.
Like Charles Fort, Jacques Bergier estimated that science tends to be closed with all the phenomena which come to upset its convictions. The fields of predilection of Jacques Bergier are however ésotériques than those of Fort: Alchemy, civilizations disappeared, Parapsychologie… Two of the broad outlines of fantastic realism is the belief in the quasi-unlimited capacity of the human brain, and the belief in the existence of extraterrestrial and the many contacts of humanity with them, in particular in the past. Jacques Bergier believed that there existed before the civilizations known, and even before the Préhistoire, of civilizations which would have completely disappeared, following their self-destruction by a too advanced technology. It is this theory which gave rise to that of the Hommes in black, which would be there to prevent new destruction.
Futurology
In Visa for Tomorrow , Bergier exposes how it is possible to know the future, not by the divination, but by science. It is, says it, possible, by observing the current discoveries in theoretical sciences to imagine 50 years later the arrival of inventions using these discoveries. Let us note how Bergier envisaged perfectly all technologies of the year 2000, except mobile telephony (“It is about as intelligent to burn gasoline in our engines as to feed a central heating with banknotes! ”).
Still let us note that all the sources quoted by Bergier are always perfectly exact, from where the success of these theories, because all the facts on which they are built are authentic.
The Superman
In the same way what Louis Pauwels, Bergier accredited the thesis of the psychic Superman (and not physics) to come, itself recognizing at various periods of its life two unexplained psychological capacities, the feeling to be followed always proven, and the perception of the feeling of hunger at others (having tested it more than in his turn in deportation -39 kilos on his return, he answered one day with derision the question “Which you against the hunger in the world make? ” of a journalist: “I eat! ”… reaffirming still a few years later “spirituality starts with 2500 calories with day”). Mensan, it was also equipped with Hyperosmie… but became practically blind at the end of its life, from the evolution accelerated of a retinopathy unstable diabetic on bottom of a strong myopia.
Anecdotes
Jacques Bergier appears drawn by Hergé in the album of Tintin Vol 714 for Sydney (he is personified by Mik Ezdanitof, of the review Comet ), and by Franquin in the album the Traveller of Mesozoic the .On its calling card, it was presented in the form of “Amateur of strange and a scribe of the miracles”.
Its eidetic Mémoire allowed him a capacity of surprising reading, reaching ten books per day sometimes, at best of its physical shape until the beginning of the Années 1970 (either more than 4 million characters per hour, to see the article “You can learn how to read more quickly” of the review Planet , n°26). It also enabled him to ensure of 1977 1978 the role of Incollable in the emission-play televised of RTL TV of the same name presented by the organizer Fabrice. He answered of the kind the questions of Master Jacques Chaussard, when the three French-speaking celebrities guests made errors. Bergier acknowledged itself to present “great gaps” but “only in sport and local policy”. With its death, the emission was still maintained during a few weeks, from now on simply with adhesives on the daily life.
Jacques Bergier had a command of 14 modern and old languages, whose araméen… but acknowledged to be able to retain Finnish.
Nicolas d' Estienne d' Orves, great nephew of the lieutenant commander Honore d' Estienne d' Orves chief of the BCRA in London at the end of 1940, received the " Price Jacques Bergier" for its Fine novel of race in 2002.
In 2006, Jacques Bergier is one of the central figures of the novel of François Darnaudet, the Papyrus of Venice .
