Jacques Anquetil

Jacques Anquetil (called Main Jacques ) was born with Mount-Saint-Aignan the January 8th 1934 and died of a cancer the November 18th 1987 with Neuville-Song-in Oisel. It was a prestigious runner cyclist French, father of a girl and a boy, Christopher, at sixteen years of variation.
Biography
Jacques Anquetil had a bicycle since the four years age, but awaited the December 2nd 1950 to sign his first license amateur with AC Sotteville. After a CAPE of fitter-milling machine operator, he thought of intending himself to assist his father, horticulturist specialized in the culture of the strawberry S. He at that time signs 16 victories among amateurs, of which the Price Maurice Latour the May 3rd 1951 with Rouen (1st victory), the Price of France in 1952 and the Tower of the English Channel and the national Championship on road the same year.He became professional cyclist in 1953 and this until in 1969 by signing 184 victories.
Anquetil carried successively the colors of “the Pearl” (1953 - 1955) (sport director: Francis Pelissier), “Heylett” (1956 - 1958), “ACBB Leroux” (1959 - 1960), “Saint-Raphaël” (1961 - 1964), “Ford-Gipsy” (1965 - 1966), French team with which it gains the World cup Intermarques in 1965 and “Bic” (1967 - 1969). Its first trainer, as of his license with Sotteville, was André Boucher (known as dad Boucher ) auprès of which it often returned to take councils and forces before great competitions, type “against-the-watch”. With its withdrawal of the competition, it was corresponding newspaper the Team , consulting on Europe 1 then on Antenne 2, director of race (Paris-Nice and Mediterranean Tour), sport director of the team of France (with the championships of the world), member of the management committee of FC, receiver on television… and finally gentleman farmer of the “Field of the Elves” (two square kilometers of grounds with Neuville-Song-in Oisel with 17 kilometers of Rouen).
Parallel to its many victories, it was many times rewarded and accepted the championship of the French champions ( the Team ) in 1963 as well as the ranks of:
- Knight of the National order of the Merit in 1965 (cross of the merit)
- Knight of the Legion of honor the October 5th 1966
