Jacques-Yves Toumelin
Jacques-Yves Toumelin is a navigator French Autodidacte, wire and grandson of sailor.
He mainly carries out a round the world tour as a recluse from September 19th, 1949 to July 7th, 1952 on board his sailing ship Kurun (“thunder” into Breton) which he made build with the Croisic. This sailing ship is a Norwegian Cotre length a 10 meters. Become property of the commune of Croisic, it is now classified historic building.
Toumelin, after Joshua Slocum and Alain Gerbault is regarded as the last one representing traditional navigators of the first part of the 20th century.
