Jacques-Nicolas Bellin
Jacques-Nicolas Bellin , cartographer, hydrograph, (born Paris in 1703, died with Versailles the March 21st 1772). In 1721, Bellin is named hydrographic Ministry for the Navy following the creation of the French hydrographic office and the Deposit of the charts and plans of the Navy. Named hydrographic engineer in August 1741. Member of the Academy of Navy and the Royal Society off London. During a 50 years career, he is the author of a great number of charts and atlas. Its charts of the Canada and the French territories of North America (New France, Acadie, Louisiana) are of a considerable value.
