Jacques-Henri de Durfort

Jacques-Henri de Durfort , Duc of Lasted, Marshal of France, one of the most former families of Guyenne, (° October 9th 1625 - † October 12th 1704).

Jacques Henri was the oldest son of Guy Aldonce de Durfort (1605 - 1665), Marquis of Duras, Count of Rozan and Lorges, Brigadier and Elisabeth of the Tower of Auvergne, girl of Henri of the Tower of Auvergne and sister of Turenne, Marshal of France. He had a brother, Armand de Durfort, died of the Peste the April 6th 1631 before to have reached the one year age, and another brother, Frederic Maurice de Durfort, count of Rozan, (1626 - 1649), implied in the blockade of Paris during the Fronde, during which he was wounded the February 19th 1649, and which died on May 1st of the continuations of its wounds.

His/her brother, Guy Aldonce de Durfort de Lorges, duke of Lorges is also Marshal of France. One cannot prevent oneself from thinking that their maternal uncle had to support the military career of Jacques-Henri and Guy Aldonce.

It was useful initially under Turenne, its uncle, and under the Grand Cop; was distinguished with Mariendal, with Alerheim; in 1651 the party of Cop followed, then rebels; to the service of the king in 1657 returned, with the title of general lieutenant; a great part with the conquest of the Franche-Comté had; was named by Louis XIV governor of this province and marshal (1675), and was made duke and par in 1689.

His/her daughter had married one of her collaborators, the general of Mélac, the previous year.
