Jacques-Gervais Subervie
Jacques-Gervais Subervie was a Général French which was useful under the Révolution and the Empire. It was born with Lectoure on September 1st 1776 and died the March 10th 1856, of natural causes.
States of service
It was initially, like many officers of the Empire, a volunteer of 1792 and was used in the armies of the Pyrenees and Italy.It entered to the service of the army the July 23rd 1793, and made with distinction all the campaigns which brought treated Campo-Formio, of Lunéville and Tilsitt.
In 1797, it became aide-de-camp of Lannes and made with him the Campagne of Egypt.
Major in 1803, it was promoted colonel of hunters after his brilliant led to Ulm and Austerlitz.
The May 27th 1807, it was named officer of the Légion of honor.
After having made the countryside of Prussia, it was transferred in Spain in 1808. Colonel of the 10th regiment of hunters with horse, it made with the head of this regiment the campaigns of 1808, 1809, 1810 and 1811 in Spain.
The March 21st 1809, it continued the rear-guard of the general Cuesta, not ceasing charging it and sabring it during more than one mile on the main road of Truxillo. Its impetuosity failed to become to him disastrous, because, wrapped of all shares in the wooded hills where the enemy had placed himself in ambush, it had its safety and that of its regiment only with coolness and the intrepidity with which it resisted forces seven times more, from which it manages to be released.
In 1810 and 1811, it contributed to the dispersion of the English army corps of the general Blacke, in the kingdom of Murcie, and was quoted among the senior officers who were distinguished particularly during this countryside, in particular with the seats of various places and the battle of Sagonie. After the revolution of February 1848, he became Minister for the war of the provisional government, but resigned on March 19th, dates to which he was appointed large chancellor of the Legion of honor. With the elections with Constituent, it was selected like republican deputy by the department of Eure-et-Loir and was re-elected with the Legislative one.
As of its election with the presidency of the Republic, Louis Napoleon Bonaparte drew aside it from the large chancellery of the Legion of honor.
Also, after the coup d'etat of December 2nd, Subervie withdrew public life and died in 1856.
