Jacques-Ferdinand Prévost
Jacques-Ferdinand Prévost (° March 27th 1819 Nickel silver - † April 3rd 1883 Versailles, buried with Blandouet (Mayenne)), brigadier general and military archeologist French.
Biography
Of a family originating in Castle-of-Dormouse, Jacques-Ferdinand Prévost had as a great-grandfather Jean-Baptiste Prévost , who married with Chammes in 1728 Anne Galpin , girl of the director of the Forges of Moncor, and joined itself the exploitation of the factory.Jacques-Ferdinand, born the March 27th 1819 with Nickel silver, had as a father Jacques Prévost , translator as a chief of the telegraph lines, whose aunt was allied with the family of Claude Chappe, of Brûlon.
Raise Polytechnic school (1839), then of the École of Metz (1841), lieutenant of the Génie (1843), it was useful in Algérie (1845), announced themselves to the head office of Rome and was decorated in 1849. Major in 1864, chief of staff of the genious of the guard to the Armed with the Rhine in 1870, it was included/understood in the capitulation of Metz and took again his rank and his functions with the head office of Paris against the Commune. He became colonel (1873), director of the fortifications of the Mans, then in Paris, charged to teach the art of the fortifications at the School of war.
Admitted with the retirement in 1881, it devoted its leisures to studies of military archeology, generally residing at the home of Chambord , with Blandouet, which his/her uncle had bequeathed to him, Louis Prévost , mayor of Blandouet, adviser of district, deceased in 1864.
The Prévost general, married to Francoise Emilie Bauchetet (° September 16th 1825 Marsillargues - † June 7th 1904 Paris), died in Versailles the April 3rd 1883 and was buried with Blandouet. He was commander of the Légion of honor and Saint-Gregoire-the-Large knight of .
