Jacques-Edme Dumont , wire of Edme Dumont, born in Paris in 1761 and died downtown this same in 1844 is a French sculptor.
Biography
Jacques-Edme Dumont works initially in the workshop of Pajou from 1775 before always entering since 1777 to the royal École of the pupils protected the direction from this same sculptor. Obtaining the Prime Minister Price of sculpture in 1788, it leaves for Rome the same year. After a stay in Naples, it returns to France in 1793.It carried out a great number of groups, statues and low-reliefs for the public monuments, inter alia: the General Marceau , with the Palate of Luxembourg, Pichegru , for the town of Alpine laburnum. It had carried out in 1819 the statue of Malesherbes for the office of Louis XVIII. This statue will be employed again in the monument which the architect Hippolyte Lebas for the Law courts of Paris will design and which will be inaugurated in December 1822.
