Jacquemort

The Jacquemort formation knew its first stammerings there is more than 10 years. All begin with the musical union from Thomas Augustin (yes, Thomas “Malajube” Augustin) and the beater Julien Bakvis. Their collaboration takes various incarnations, in various basements of suburbs of which flinguées Nuns.

Julien Bakvis does not make that flinguer nuns, it is also beater for Méta Gruau, a kind of trio post-Devo with keyboards disco musics and a guitarist fluo, is Julien Michalak. During this time, Thomas plays of the keyboard with Malajube, and composes the song St-Fortunat, appeared on the Trompe-l'oeil album. It is into 2005 that both Juliens and Thomas are linked musicalement and it is the arrival of the Nelly-Beautiful clavierist Estirac who seals the birth of Jacquemort. The musical universe of Jacquemort is too not far from Malajube in its pop sensitivity, its energy rock'n'roll and its vocal arrangements, ensured here by Thomas. In premium, there are also keyboards drôlement inspired and rates/rhythms which tear.

At the summer 2006, they call upon the services of Ryan Battistuzzi. The realizer is especially known for his work on Trompe-l'oeil, of Malajube, but it also recorded the mornings of great evenings, Breastfeeders, and many other preceded albums of the local scene. Therefore, the members of Jacquemort start to record their songs, in a beautiful country cottage with Magog. Then, it occurs for first once at the edition of Pop Montreal 2006 and supplements their first EP the come winter. It is entitled baby Tooth, considering that, always according to Thomas “it east are songs which one trails since an end of time and one really felt that they had to be recorded, to be able to keep them, and pass to others. It is like a tooth: when you have it alive in the mouth it is not really an object, until you have it in your hand and then that becomes more invaluable, concrete. In the content, it is the action to extirpate it in time which counts. ” This first tooth leaves on the label sister Dare to Care Records, Grosse Box, on April 10th, 2007. Since this time, the group occurs with the four corners of the province and turns on the waves of the university radios.
