Jacone
Jacopo di Giovanni di Francesco , known as Jacone (Florence, 1495 - 1554) is an Italian painter of the school florentine.
Biography
It enters like apprentice the workshop of Andrea del Sarto, while remaining there until the death of the Master, in January 1521, while always enjoying there creative autonomy. It belongs to the circle of Pierfrancesco Riccio, ducal majordomo delegated to the artistic policy with Giovanni Battista del Tasso, Master-goldsmith with, in secondary positions, Tribolo and Baccio Bandinelli. This membership explains the hostility of Vasari, because his/her friends were always excluded from the major commissions florentines assigned in Riccio.Returned Cortona, it approaches the Pontormo, which works in Florence and in the countryside for the Capponi, usual commission agents of Pontormo. Its drawings, dispersed in various museums of the world, approach in their methods is of Pontormo but also of the young person Rosso Fiorentino and Baccio Bandinelli, in the unusual and odd positions of the figures.
In 1525, the Company of Orciuolo, orders with the artist decorations, with nine scenes of the Old Testament, of a triumphal arch for the festival of San Felice in Piazza (district of Florence), partly carried out by Bacchiacca.
In 1536, with Pier Francesco Foschi and other painters, he works under the direct dependence of Pontormo for grotesque and different decorations of the Villa medicea di Careggi.
Perhaps does it give up the artistic career then definitively while choosing to become cimatore (ecimor?), humbler but surer trade, because on May 24th, 1554, it is buried in Ognissanti, and is noted Jacopo de Giovanni de Francesco “ cimatore ”, in the Book of Died of the Arte dei Medici E Speziali and in the Book of Died of the Arte della Grascia.
