Jacobo Timerman

Jacobo Timerman (January 6th 1923 - November 11th 1999) is an editor, journalist, and Argentinian writer .

Chronological biography

It was born in Bar, in Ukraine, before its family will live in Argentine as it is 5 years old 1928.

Journalist recognized since the Sixties, of 1971 with 1977 it will be at the origin of publications denouncing the violations of the Human rights by the Argentinian government.

That is worth a imprisonment of 1977 to him with 1979, at the origin of the book Preso sin Nombre, Celda sin Numero (captive without name, cell without number)

In 1980, it receives the Plume of gold of freedom for its militant action in the name of the Freedom of expression.

It migrates in following Tel Aviv in Israel where it writes The Longest War (the longest war) before expatrier with Madrid then New York, then to return to Buenos Aires in 1984. Three years later, it publishes Chile a critical vision of the life under the mode of Pinochet.
