Jacob To fortify (1892-1970) was a Canadian economist , naturalized American. He contributed major shares in international economy, Histoire of the economic thinking, and on the Theory of the Firme.
He especially taught with the Université of Chicago (1916-1917 and 1919-1946) and with the Université of Princeton (1946-1960).
To fortify is one of the pioneers of the Theory of the firm, and is the first to have distinguished the curved from the costs between short term and long run. In 1937, it publishes off Studies in the Theory International Trade , the first intellectual history of the International business. In The Customs Union Resulting (1950), it analyzes the customs unions S and makes the distinction between the effects of increase in the trade and the effects of diversion.
He wrote long and celebrates introduction to the biography of Adam Smith by John Rae.
Although he taught a long time in Chicago, Viner was not member of the École of Chicago, from which he did not share the sights on the Marché.
