Jacmel

Jacmel is a city in the south of Haiti. Founded in 1698, it is the chief town of the department of the South-eastern. The population is of some 30.000 people, called the Jacméliennes .

History

Per hour of the Haitian Revolution, Jacmel is a strategic southernmost port. It is disputed in 1799 by the generals All Saints' day Louverture and André Rigaud. It is the lieutenant of Rigaud, the president to come Alexandre Pétion, which deals with the defense of Jacmel.
