The general Jonathan “Jack” O' Neill is a character of the universe of fiction Stargate, interpreted in 1994 by Kurt Russell in the film Stargate, the door of the stars and since 1997 by the actor Richard Dean Anderson in the Televised series Stargate SG-1 .

Before working to the SGC, colonel O' Neill belonged to the special forces of the Air Force (Black-ops). He had carried out several perilous missions throughout the world and had in particular taken part in a mission in German Democratic republic to recover a Russian agent.

When his/her son (Charly) committed suicide with his weapon out of service in his residence, O' Neill left the Air Force and adopted a depressive and suicidal behavior. The colonel Jack O' Neill took part in a mission towards Abydos after the activation of the Porte of the stars. On its return of mission, he discovered that his wife, Sarah, had left it.

One year later, the Air Force recontacted it to require of him to take the orders of a named team SG-1 whose mission would be to explore the galaxy. Since this time, O' Neill directs SG-1 and explores the galaxy regularly while saving from time to time the Ground of an attack of Goa' ulds. Colonel O' Neill was promoted with the row of brigadier general after having saved the Earth of an attack of the lord Goa' uld Anubis. He was in load of the SGC between 2004 and 2005, before being promoted Major Général at the post of head of Homeworld Security (translated into VF in the series by: Land defense system).

Did you know?

  • the son of Jack O' Neill was killed with the weapon out of service out of the latter, which destroyed it, and in the beginning it is because it was suicidal that one sent it the first time on Abydos. It is since this traumatisante experiment that it carries a softness and an extreme attention to the children.
  • the boat of Jack O' Neill is called the Homer , in reference to the interest of this character and sound interprête Richard Dean Anderson for the series Simpson. It also nourishes a passion not hidden for fishing, and unprofitably tries to involve everyone with him.
  • Jack O' Neill adores beer, so much so that it is the secret ingredient of the majority of its receipts house (like the skewers).
  • Jack O' Neill is follower of black humor, sometimes without wanting it, but it does it well.
  • Jack O' Neill hates the Technobabble Casing, even if it is always ready to make fun of its own scientific incompetence (" - Which is this strange language? - Maths, my colonel"). He does not like either the Yo-yo, and especially, he does not love the Kinsey vice-president, to whom he does not hesitate a second to say the bottom of his thought using green counterparts (" You are the worst arse-licker than I ever saw, and for my vote you will be able to you brosser" , he says in front of a camera after being himself assured which she filmed).
  • Jack O' Neill is attracted by its second, the lieutenant-colonel Samantha Carter, and that seems reciprocal. That was confirmed in season 4 of the series, even if many indices let the doubt plane since the first episode. Their relation is nevertheless impossible because of their work, especially since Jack does not work any more with the SGC. But one does not lose the hope to re-examine it and see the things evolving/moving.
  • Whereas all the members of its team are to the SG-C doing something of constructive (Daniel to its translations, Teal' C in its Kelno' reem, Carter at its laboratory on its engine with Naquadah), Jack, him, walks in the corridors without anything to make, or will take a piece to the mess of cake (moreover the mess is its place of predilection, one is sure to find it there when it has one moment of free).
