Jaap de Hoop Scheffer

Jaap de Hoop Scheffer (of its true name Jakob Gijsbert de Hoop Scheffer ) is a politician Dutch born the April 3rd 1948 with Amsterdam. He is general secretary of NATO since January 1st 2004. He was Foreign Minister of the Netherlands and member of the Parliament for C.D.A..
Career
- Secretary with the embassy of the Netherlands with Accra (Ghana), of 1976 to 1978.
- Secretary of the delegation Dutchwoman at the general headquarters of NATO with Brussels, of 1978 to 1980.
- Secretary of foreign affairs (of the ministers Van der Klaauw, Van der Stoel, Van Agt and Van den Broek successively), of 1980 in June 1986.
- 1e member with the Lower House of the Parliament, from June 3rd, 1986 to May 23rd, 2002.
- Representing C.D.A. with the Lower House of the Parliament from March 27th, 1997 to October 1st, 2001.
- Foreign Minister from July 22nd, 2002 to December 3rd, 2003.
